How Sites Are Selected

Sites are selected on a competitive basis using the following site selection criteria:

ASSUMED CRITERIA

• Property is located within the Northern Maine Economic Development District (Aroostook, Washington, Penobscot, Piscataquis counties) target area.
• Property owner is willing to redevelop the property.
• Site/property qualifies for EPA assessment funds.

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA

• Overall development potential
• Redevelopment Plan 
  • Community, Owner, Developer
  • Community value
  • Stimulate other projects in the community
• Return on investment
• Job creation
• Stimulates economy
• Impacts the tax base
• Risk to human health and the environment
